CRPF recovers IED weighing 2 kg in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh

New Delhi: The 85th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Wednesday recovered IED weighing 2 kg in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The explosive is said to be planted by Maoist rebels.

Later, bomb detection and disposal squad defused the IED.

Last week, a Naxal was killed by security forces in an encounter in the region. A .303 riffle was recovered from the slain rebel.

On the same day, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh announced that the state government will form a Bastar battalion to increase employment opportunities in the region. He said the candidates will be inducted from four districts for the battalion to be raised by CRPF.
