CPI (Maoist) Cadres Suspected Of Executing Police Informant In Alluri Sitharama Raju District

Alluri Sitharama Raju District, April 7, 2022: A 30-year-old man was executed near Yeguvataravu village in the Andhra Odisha Border region in the Pedabayalu mandal of Alluri Sitharama Raju district.

The deceased was identified as Kora Laxman of Ginnelakota village of Pedabayalu mandal. He is suspected to have been executed by cadres of the CPI (Maoist) late on Wednesday night.

According to initial reports from the police, suspected Maoists came to his village and took Laxman away after branding him as a police informant. Later, his body was found with multiple wounds by the villagers.

“Though we are not fully sure that he was killed by the Maoists, we suspect them, as the modus operandi suggests that. Moreover, he and his wife were Dalam members from 2012 to 2016, and the Maoists were forcing him to join back. He also received multiple threats from them in recent times and was on their target list,” said ASR Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar.

If the Maoists have a hand in the execution, this would be their first such action after the ASR district was formed on April 4 as part of the district reorganization process.

It is still not clear who had led the Maoist squad, but sources suggest the presence of Comrade Ashok.
