CPI Maoist Action Teams Enter Bhadradri Kothagudem District

Kothagudem: Massive search operations were underway in the forests of Manugur agency area and its surroundings in the district following reported movements of ultras of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) Party.

A senior police officer said the district police had received intelligence inputs that three Maoist action teams had entered Bhadradri Kothagudem district from neighboring Chhattisgarh. Nearly 400 policemen including 20 special party police and greyhounds teams were engaged in combing operations in the forests searching for the Naxals and high alert has been sounded in Manugur agency area. Top police officials were monitoring the situation guiding the forces.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed in the agency areas with tribals living in the forests in the grip of fear. Maoists were trying to establish ground in the agency areas in Kothagudem district with the pressure from Chhattisgarh police increasing, sources said.

According to the senior officials, the Maoist Telangana state committee wanted its cadre to shift to Telangana and hence sent action teams to prepare the ground in Kothagudem district.
