Baidya Led RCPN And Nepali Led CPN (Mashal) Announce Merger Effective May 1st

Kathmandu, April 25, 2024: The Mohan Baidya led Revolutionary Communist Party of Nepal and the Santa Bahadur Nepali led CPN (Mashal) have reached a consensus to unite their parties.

In a joint statement, Baidya and Nepali announced the merger of their respective parties, scheduled to take place on May 1, coinciding with International Labor Day.

Baidya’s party had previously splintered from the Dahal-led CPN (Maoist Centre), while Ram Bahadur Thapa (Badal) had returned to Dahal’s faction.

Subsequently, Netra Bikram Chand formed the Communist Party of Nepal, prompting Baidya to rename his party the Revolutionary Communist Party of Nepal.

Similarly, Santa Bahadur Nepali was previously associated with Mohan Bikram Singh’s CPN (Mashal), led by Chitra Bahadur KC.

Nepali later parted ways with the party and reestablished it under his leadership.

Despite Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s expressed intentions of consolidating all communist parties in the country, no agreements have been reached with parties led by Baidya, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, and Chand thus far.
