CPI (Maoist) Courier Taken Into Custody By Police In Bhadradri Kothagudem District

Bhadradri Kothagudem District, September 15, 2023: Cherla police have arrested a courier working for the CPI (Maoist) in Bhadradri Kothagudem district and seized pamphlets from him related to the Maoist party’s upcoming week-long celebrations to mark the 19th anniversary of it’s formation, police announced to the press on Friday.

The detained Maoist courier was identified as 20-year-old Kunja Umesh alias Bhadru, a native of Pullum village in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.

Mr. Umesh was apprehended by the police at a vehicle checkpoint at Venkatacheruvu area in Cherla mandal on Thursday afternoon.

Mr. Umesh was heading towards Patha Cherla to put up the pamphlets in the nearby areas at the behest of some Chhattisgarh-based leaders of the Maoist party, police added.

According to the police, Mr. Umesh was earlier associated with the CPI (Maoist)’s Bhairamgarh Area Militia Platoon in Chhattisgarh state.

The CPI (Maoist) will be holding celebrations to mark the 19th anniversary of it’s formation from September 21 to 27.
