Bijapur District, April 18, 2023: A cadre of the CPI (Maoist) was killed and two others were arrested in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.

“The deceased Maoist’s body has been recovered from the spot,” a police official was quoted as saying.

According to reports, a team of DRG (District Reserve Guard) was patrolling in Kachilwar village of Bijapur at 8 am when the firefight between security personnel and Maoists began.

Bijapur Superintendent of Police (SP) Anjaneya Varshney confirmed the killing of a Maoist and the arrest of two others.

“The slain Maoist was identified as Anjum Malkhan,” Varshney said.
