India : Maoists call for Magadh bandh on August 31 in Bihar

The bandh would begin 12 am on the intervening night of 30th and 31st August. Five districts including Gaya, Aurangabad, Jahanabad, Nawada and Arwal are likely to be affected by the bandh call.

Maoists in Bihar have given a call for one day Magadh Bandh on 31st August to protest the killing of six of their cadres in an encounter with the security forces in July this year.

The bandh would begin 12 am on the intervening night of 30th and 31st August. Five districts including Gaya, Aurangabad, Jahanabad, Nawada and Arwal are likely to be affected by the bandh call.

In view of the bandh call the police and paramilitary forces have intensified security in the Maoist infested areas. Search operations are also being carried out in these five district to prevent any evil design of the Maoists from being successful.

Encounter between security forces and Maoist happened on 18th July in Dumaria Nala forest area in Aurangabad district.

In this encounter, 10 commandos of the elite COBRA battalion of CRPF were killed. Maoists had triggered a series of IED explosions during the encounter in which the 10 commandos lost their lives.

The security forces also eliminated 6 cadres of the red forces in the encounter. The security forces had also seized weapons like AK-47, INSAS rifle.
