EBDC Of CPI (Maoist) Calls On Public To Denounce October 4th Encounter As A Massacre Of It’s Cadres By Security Forces

Bhadradri Kothagudem District, October 14, 2024: The East Bastar Divisional Committee of the CPI (Maoist) has described the encounter that took place between a squad of its armed cadres and security personnel on October 4 as a massacre, and appealed to the public to raise their voice against the gun battle.

The unsigned statement in the name of the Maoist party’s East Bastar Divisional Committee, released to the media late on Sunday night, claimed that 35 Maoist cadres were killed in the exchange of fire in the forests along the borders of Narayanpur and Dantewada districts on October 4. The statement contained the names of 35 cadres reportedly killed during the skirmish. The Chhattisgarh state police had said 31 Maoists were killed in the firefight. Most of the deceased Maoists were said to belong to the sixth company of the PLGA (the armed wing of the CPI (Maoist)).

It is alleged in the statement released by the Maoist party’s EBDC that while doing roll call at 6 am, the sound of firing was heard from all sides. Information was received that the police forces reached everywhere. The Maoist cadres took their positions in cover. From 6.30 to 11 am, the drone kept hovering in all directions of the camp while security personnel in ‘L’ formation fired at the Maoists. The firing started at 11:30 am and continued intermittently for 11 times till 9 pm in the night. As many as 14 cadres were killed in the firing. 17 injured cadres were picked from different places and were murdered on October 5 at 8 am by security forces.

The statement further claims that that the attack was aimed to eliminate the Maoist party’s East Bastar Divisional Committee.
