5 PLGA Cadres Killed In Encounter With Security Forces In Chatra District

Chatra District, April 4, 2023: As many as five cadres of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), the armed wing of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jharkhand’s Chatra district on April 3.

As per reports, a joint team of CoBRA, an elite anti-Maoist unit of the CRPF, along with district police of Chatra and Palamu were out on a combing operation in the bordering area where an encounter broke out with the Maoists, in which at least five members of the PLGA were killed.

It’s been learnt that one of the Maoists killed in the encounter, Gautam Paswan, was a member of the Special Area Committee of the CPI (Maoist).

Speaking on the development, Superintendent of Police of Chatra district, Rakesh Ranjan, stated that a huge amount of arms and ammunition has been recovered from the site of the gun battle, and that a search operation is still being conducted. It’s been learnt that the security forces have already recovered at least two AK-47s.
